Here are some things that I would advise to work on when practicing this etude.

  • In measure 1, I would use your right-hand B-natural rather than using both pinkies.

  • The A to G# in measures 2 and 7, focus on keeping the G# down and adding the A rather than rocking back and forth between the two keys.

  • In measure 3, keep your right hand down AND use your right-hand B-natural rather than using both pinkies.

  • Make sure that all the 16th notes are really even. Some of the fingerings are easier than others, so make sure that those easier ones don’t speed up.

  • One trick to making this even is to articulate ALL of the notes. This will help make it metronomic once you add the slurs back in.
